World Cup 2 - Lucerne, Switzerland
US National Team GRP Row members competed at World Rowing Cup Lucerne, June 27-29, 2025. The World Rowing Cups are an annual series of regattas that act as a lead-up to the World Rowing Championships. World Rowing Cups are held over three days with a progression system from heats through to finals. Racing at the World Rowing Cup includes the 12 Olympic boat classes and a selection of International boat classes.
World Cup Lucerne was raced on the Rotsee, a beautiful body of water and a protected nature reserve. It is arguably one of the most beautiful and fair racing venues. GRP Rowers Holly Drapp, Jacob Plihal, Grace Joyce and Caleb Nollenberger competed in various boat classes. The weekend started with great weather and light wind - ideal racing conditions for all crews.
Jacob raced in a new combination in the Men’s 4X winning bronze! He also competed in the Men’s 8+ placing 5th. Jacob has had a great season so far, placing 2nd in the Men’s 1X at World Cup Varese.
Holly placed 5th in the Women’s 4- and won silver in the Women’s 8+! Grace competed in the Women’s 2X placing 5th in a tight race for medals. Caleb won the D-final in the Men’s 2X with a great race.
All around the Sprigs had a great tour! There is now a large group of GRP Rowers headed down to Princeton, NJ for Selection Camp 2. They will be put in lineups to select boats for World Championships in Shanghai, China. Selection will conclude the first week of July, leading into single’s trials.
Stay tuned for more GRP Row updates!
