Meet the New GRP Rowers
The Green Racing Project welcomed three new full-time rowers and one training partner earlier this month. Cillian Mullen, Jane Doyle, and Mathew Skubas have joined the team full time, while Evan Falstrup will train with the group for part of the fall.
Cillian Mullen
Cillian graduated from the University of Washington in spring 2026 with a degree in Environmental Studies. Originally from Tacoma, Washington, Cillian is a familiar face around Craftsbury after spending three summers with the GRP U23 program and twice representing the United States in the single at the U23 World Championships. Outside of rowing, Cillian has played volleyball and ultimate frisbee.
“I decided to join the GRP full time because of its connection to the global community and the ability to work towards sustainability initiatives and also row at the same time. I was an Environmental Studies major in college, and I'm most excited to interact with the local community, specifically in the gardens and helping out with the ski races in the winter.”
Jane Doyle
Jane is another familiar face in Craftsbury. This past summer marked her second year with the GRP U23 program. Originally from New York City, Jane grew up swimming before making the transition to rowing in college, where she walked on to the team at the College of the Holy Cross.
After rowing for three years at Holy Cross and graduating with a degree in Studio Art and Premedical Studies, Jane spent her fifth year at the University of Washington. She is currently finishing her masters in public health remotely from Craftsbury. Jane's skills extend well beyond the water. She enjoys sewing and creating unique designs on clothing.
“I chose Craftsbury because I loved being a U23 rower here, and I feel like this is the only training location where you are investing in serving the community just as much as they're investing in you. I'm excited to garden with Molly and hang out with my friends. I am just excited to be here, have fun, and be myself.”
Mathew Skubas
Matt (although he says you can also call him Skubas) joins the team after a year of training with Penn AC. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Matt graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering Technology and an A&P certification. Matt recently competed at the FISU World University Games, where he won a silver medal for the United States in the men's double.
“I joined GRP primarily for the resources they offer: the high-level coaching staff, the great training group, and the community we are surrounded by. To be out in the outdoors is awesome, and helping around the community is really worthwhile. I'm most excited to see my progress while I'm here and for racing. I am also excited to meet a lot of new people and give back to the community.”
Evan Falstrup
Evan is joining the GRP as a training partner for part of the fall after spending a month with the group at the end of this past summer. Evan began rowing during his sophomore year at the University of Southern California after being recruited on campus. He graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2023 with an MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Nutrition. Evan enjoys reading, lifting weights, and exploring nature. His primary training location is in Sarasota, Florida.
“In simple terms, a lot of people have recommended training out here, speaking very highly of the coaching staff and the environment. I've had a very good impression training with the Craftsbury rowers who were on the national team, and so I thought this was a good opportunity to expand my technical repertoire. I'm enjoying the environment up here, and the group is awesome as well. The coaches are stacking on different themes week to week, and it's been very fulfilling working with them.”
All four athletes are already fitting in well, diving into work hours, training, and getting to know the team and the Craftsbury community. Make sure to say hi and introduce yourself when you see them around campus!
