GRP Snow at Lake Placid

GRP Snow spent the September 12-13 weekend in Lake Placid for the traditional early season tests of Keys to the Castle and Climb to the Castle.

Saturday's Keys to the Castle sprint at Mt. Van Hoevenberg ran royal-court style, with athletes reseeded through qualifying and rounds. Men's qualifying was GRP dominated, with Jack Christner, Brian Bushey, Joseph Lynch, and John Schwinghamer going 1-4. Bushey and Christner each picked up two heat wins through the rounds, and Quincy Massey-Bierman took a heat win on the women's side.

Next morning, fog rolled over the Climb to the Castle — five miles and about 3,800 feet up the Whiteface toll road, with 20-40 feet of visibility at the summit. Bushey took the men's long-course win in 38:54.9, with Christner second in 40:40.4.

Back to normal training this week.
