GRP Run: Canyon Woodward punches Golden Ticket to Western States

Green Racing Project (GRP) runner Canyon Woodward raced to a personal best and completed a men’s podium that all broke the course record by at least 23 (!) minutes this past weekend at the Javelina Jundred. Either is cause enough for celebration, but those accomplishments were just the prelude to another professional highlight: a Golden Ticket to Western States 2026.
Canyon had a great race battling tough terrain, the desert heat, and a competitive racing field. Charging hard through the final loop, Canyon came in less than 2 minutes behind his coach, David Roche, rounding out the podium after an incredible all-day battle. On the podium, second place finisher, Roche, passed his ticket down a spot to the third place finisher Canyon Woodward.
“It means so much, David has been my coach for about 5 years now. We have been working towards this for years and years… Jackass Junction was popping. The sunrise was awesome and awesome running with the big pack of lead men.”
- Woodward reflecting on the race.
Canyon went on to say, “I just have so much gratitude to everyone who made it possible - my partner Stevie who crewed me and kept me on track out there, my brother Forest who I completed my first 100 miler with back in 2018 and has been core support throughout the process, my family and friends who have crewed and supported so many races, Dick & Judy for creating GRP and giving me the opportunity to compete at the highest level, my Co-Director Chloe at Dirtroad Organizing, and of course my coach of 5 years David who placed second and passed his Golden Ticket along to me.”
