GRP Row Fall Goodbyes
This fall four Green Racing Project rowers are moving on to the next phase of their journeys. We’re thankful for their impact on our community while a part of the GRP and have enjoyed watching them progress as athletes and people. Please join us in wishing them well with their next steps! Here are their GRP highlights given by the athletes themselves:
Holly Drapp
College: University of Washington
Years on GRP row: 2022–2026
Competition highlight/s: Bronze in the W2- at the 2025 World Championships in Shanghai (senior team debut); won the first-ever mixed 8+ race at an official World Rowing event, World Cup Varese 2025; 2026 World Championships W8+ alternate. Holly’s favorite sport highlight was being able to represent the GRP in a small boat on the world stage in 2025.
Favorite work project: Squash harvest with the garden team and connecting with the staff to write the Chronic.
Favorite Craftsbury life memory: Watching the leaves change while rowing on the Hos.
What's next?: Holly is continuing training in Princeton with the women’s sweep group until LA2028.
Sera Moon Busse
College: Tufts
Years on GRP row: 2022–2026
Competition highlight/s: 2025 World Championships W4x; silver in the mixed 2x at the 2025 Beach Sprint Finals; 2025 Head of the Charles Championship W2x win with Sophie Calabrese; named to the 2026 Beach Sprint National Team (Qingdao, October 18–21)
Favorite work project: Harvesting squash every fall from the Ruthies Field.
Favorite Craftsbury life memory: There are too many to choose from! They’re seasonal and habitual. The post bike ride summer creemee, the fall hikes, and baking cookies after a long ski. I love and will miss all of those things dearly.
What's next?: Sera is moving to San Diego to pursue an Olympic seat in Beach Sprints heading into LA2028.
Kai Hoite
College: Brown
Years on GRP row: 2023–2026
Competition highlight/s: 3rd in the M2- with Evan Olson at the 2025 Senior World Championship Trials; bow of the USRowing Championship 4 at the 2024 Head of the Charles
Favorite work project: Sunny BKL Sunday skis, working busy races, helping out in the kitchen, good ‘ol firewood stacking, and squash harvest!
Favorite Craftsbury life memory: Diving in the Hos on a hot day, athlete house games and parties, sunsets over windmill ridge, shooting the shit with maintenance, and working with the kitchen staff.
What's next?: Kai moved to Switzerland and is studying for graduate school.
Caleb in bow with Michael Herman in Varese, Italy, 2025.
Caleb Nollenberger
College: Minnesota
Years on GRP row: 2021–2023 (U23), 2024–2026
Competition highlight/s: 2025 World Cups in Varese and Lucerne (M2x); won the first-ever mixed 8+ race at an official World Rowing event, Varese 2025; 2nd of 47 in the M1x at the 2025 Fall Speed Order; 2026 Lenny Peters Cup
Caleb's time at Craftsbury goes back to his U23 summers. The University of Minnesota club rower came to Big Hosmer for three consecutive summers as part of our U23 program, starting in 2021. With Braeden Arthur, he won his U23 double heat at the 2022 Royal Canadian Henley, and the pair won the U23 men's double at the 2023 U23 National Team Trials. Caleb got faster every year as he rowed small boats in the summer and led Minnesota's club crew on and off the water.
After graduating, Caleb joined the senior GRP Row squad in 2024 and moved quickly up the national ranks. Within a year he was racing for Team USA, doubling with Michael Herman on the World Cup circuit and helping make a little rowing history in Varese's inaugural mixed eight. Back home he proved his speed in the single against a field stacked with Olympians and World Championship athletes. This spring he earned selection out of USRowing's Selection Camp I and teamed up with GRP teammate Jacob Plihal at the Lenny Peters Cup.
Off the water, Caleb could usually be found riding his bike, stacking work hours, or hanging out with his cat, Bean. He adapted quickly to the demands of full-time training while keeping a life and career beyond rowing. The most visible example was biking to work at the USDA office in Morrisville, a job in his field of soil science, while remaining a big part of campus through work hours and training. Thank you, Caleb, and best of luck in what's next!
